I date who I think I'd be compatible with, if I feel the man at hand can worship the ground I walk on and want to be near me always, then he' s a keeper, otherwise he's out the door.

Here are my 2 cents. I can't recall what comedian said this but he was talking about how men see a girl they think is hot, seems cool, whatever and they think to themselves I want a girl LIKE that. And then girls see a guy they think is hot and they say I want THAT guy. Nevermind that he's married, has a girfriend, etc. So that kinda seems like what you're talking about. It's silly because like you said, there are 3 billion people in the world. So why go after the friends? It's likely that not only will the ex not be ok with it, but the friends, assuming they're good friends, won't be ok with it either.

It's also a male vs. female thing. We innately think differently about certain things, so women, generally speaking, are going to scoff at this whole notion.

Bottom line, there are plenty of girls out there, it's not worth causing drama by going after friends of girls you already dated, unless of course they give you the ok. If not, avoid it all together. No sense in adding some new nonsense to the mix.
